<![CDATA[Domain Name Registration]]> Domain Name Registration

Domain names are already as important (if not more) to a business as their trading name, company name and trademarks. Finding a good domain name is very difficult and the chances are you won't be able to get the exact name you want.

In case you missed the plot, a domain name is a name which people use to refer to your website or email - such as yahoo.com or sunburnt.com.au.

We can help you secure domain names which are memorable and relevant to your organisation. All the domains you register with us can be used for your website and email and are interchangeable. For example, if you register sunburnt.com.au and getsunburnt.com you can use them both. In this example, we registered the first domain for the dash-separated keywords and the second domain for use over the phone.

Some good reasons to register extra domain names in addition to your main domain name are to:

 • Protect Your Brand Name
 • Get Coveted Endings Like .com .co .net and .com.au
 • Secure Keyword Rich Domains
 • Secure Short Names for Email Addresses
 • Secure Easy-To-Say Names for Phone Conversations
 • Secure Memorable Names
 • Allow for Typos and Common Misspellings

Contact Us today for more information or support on registering domain names.

<![CDATA[Server Upgrades Complete]]> Server Upgrades Complete

Over the past one and a half months, we've been upgrading our entire platform to new software and servers. We only do this every five years or so to keep our system stable, and to make sure we get a good return on new technology. Our new platform is doing great, and we've also taken the opportunity to add a few extra features:

 • domain-level spam protection features (SPF and DKIM) to make it more difficult for spammers to spoof your email address
 • extra layers of spam filtering (backscatter detection and DKIM verification)
 • DDoS protected DNS servers
 • an extra backup server housed in an underground bunker protected by European data laws... just in case

If you notice any issues with our services, please let us know at support@sunburnt.com.au and we'll take a look.

<![CDATA[Stormy Weather Hits Google Rankings]]> Stormy Weather Hits Google Rankings

There has been a sudden shift in the rankings of many keywords on Google this week. We suspect it may indicate the rollout of the final update to Google's Penguin algorithm. Penguin was a project started by Google in 2012 to put an end to black-hat SEO techniques, most notably link-spam.

Last year, Google announced they would release the final update to Penguin in December, although this never eventuated. It is likely that the update was delayed and is starting to surface now. They have indicated that the purpose of the update is to integrate their spam-detection algorithms into their real-time search algorithm. Currently, their spam data is maintained separately and updated less frequently than their core data.

The outcome is that search results are likely to be less stable as a site's quality score can shift in real time whenever a change is detected by Google. Previously, such changes could take months to influence actual search results.

The data below shows a change in search traffic detected around April 25.

<![CDATA[New domains coming: yourname.au]]> New domains coming: yourname.au

Today the Australian Domain Adminstration Board (auDA) has approved a proposal for domain registrations in the .au namespace, for example "yourname.au". This good news opens new doors for domain registrations and is expected to have many benefits, such as:

 • making more domain names available
 • allow for shorter, more appealing and more memorable domain names
 • give Australians more choice is deciding what domain name to register
 • fulfilling market demand for country-level brand names
 • being more attractive to individuals than the current option, id.au
 • strengthening the “.au brand” in a globally competitive market

auDA is now undertaking a comprehensive policy development process and further stakeholder consultations to determine the best approach for implementing direct registrations in the .au namespace. All changes will take into account the impact on existing registrants, in a manner that is consistent with the .au policy and regulatory framework.

The opening up of the .au domain space presents a good opportunity to capture previously unavailable keyword-relevant domain names. It will also be important to protect your brand name by ensuring you own your brands .au domain.

These changes will take some time to implement. auDA will make further announcements during the year as the work progresses. We'll keep you posted.

<![CDATA[[New Feature] Secure Webmail]]> [New Feature] Secure Webmail

Dear Sunburnt Customers,

We're happy to announce we've upgraded our webmail server to use 2048-bit https (secure) encryption. This means you can safely access webmail without worrying that your mail, or password, is being snooped on.

This is good news for frequent travelers, because while your home ISP is unlikely to be mining your data, foreign ISPs may not be as friendly. Spammers, for example, have incentive to steal passwords so they can use legitimate email accounts for sending spam.

To access your webmail, login to your account and select 'webmail' from the 'email' menu. You can also go directly to:

webmail.sunburntseo.com

Using the direct link, you will notice the new "lock" symbol, indicating that your connection is secure.

Web encryption is becoming increasingly important, and this upgrade is just one of our planned improvements to protect your data and your privacy. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us by replying to this email.

<![CDATA[[New Feature] Page Analytics]]> [New Feature] Page Analytics

We've just released an update to our software that makes it easier for you to get more meaningful visitor analytics. When you log in, you'll now notice a "Page Analytics" link at the top of each page.

This link retrieves all the data from our analytics server and filters it all for that page. You can see the visits, referrers, search terms and any other metrics for that single page since it was published. This is very useful to determine how effectively each page on your website is performing. You can also use it to check the reach of new articles that you publish.

We hope you find this new feature useful. If you have any questions, feel free to send us an email. Wishing you all the best for 2016.

<![CDATA[Tracking Your Newsletter Readers]]> Tracking Your Newsletter Readers

Hi all,

We've added a new feature to our platform recently to give your more insight into the number of people and type of people that read your newsletters. If you take a look at your delivery stats you'll notice a few new columns on this page:

Each delivery now includes statistics on the number of people who opened the email, the number of email addresses which bounced and the number of people who unsubscribed using the unsubscribe link in each newsletter.

You can also click through to get more detailed reader statistics. The graph below shows the days which readers opened the newsletter.

You can also see where your readers live, by country, state and even city. This example uses the United States, but the same details apply to all countries.

Some other statistics which can be quite useful are the devices your readers are using (mobile or desktop) and the time of day they read your newsletter.

Similar statistics are also available for your website visitors as you probably already realise. We've just integrated the tracking of newsletter readers with the tracking of website visitors so you can take advantage of all the goodness of our analytics platform.

If you have any questions, just reply to this email (if you're reading this as an email), or pop them in the comments below (if you're reading this online).

Adios!
