Domain Name Scams

Attention customers,

Please be aware that online scammers and spammers will continually try to trick you into selling their products and services, or obtaining your passwords. If you get an email which you think is dodgy, then it probably is. For example, one customer recently received this email:

Domain Name Scams

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are Beijing Erimart Network Service Co., Ltd which is the domain name register center in China. We received a formal application from a company who is applying to register “glas-craft” as their domain name and Internet keyword on Jul 15, 2008. Because this involves your company name or trade mark so we inform you in no time. If you consider these domain names and internet keyword are important to you and it is necessary to protect them by registering them first, contact us soon.

For starters, you can't register "Internet Keywords". Secondly you should seriously question why a Chinese company is trying to use scare tactics on you.

Another recent one came via postal mail from the "WorldWideWeb Register". These guys have been at it for a while now, and we've posted about that before. Please see our news item at http://www.sunburnt.com.au/news/scam-alert-worldwideweb-register to read about them.

Spam and scams are the biggest problem on the Internet today. Please use your common sense when you are online!
